HIKARIHAKA LIGHT FIXTURE
The lighting project consisted of the designing and fabrication of a working lamp based on the overall concept and inspiration of an assigned piece of existing architecture or art installation. I was assigned the Brion Vega Cemetary by Carlo Scarpa. HikariHaka (meaning "light tomb" in Japanese) is a table top light fixture that reflects similar geometry embellishments embodied by the cemetery. Carlo Scarpa spent a lot of time studying Japanese architecture driving the decision to using Hinoki wood for the veneer of the lamp.
