SKYLINE BARBER SCHOOL
I was tasked with redesigning and converting a massage therapy classroom into the bay area’s first community college barber school. The scope included that all existing architectural elements such as partitions and ceiling components remained as is. I was provided specifications for all barber shop equipment and to fit as many stations the space permitted. The program included a reception area, wash stations, lounge areas with AV for slideshow, and an artistic feature wall. Being as that the floor finish was to remain, I took the liberty of warming up the space with wood wall covering to reflect the masculine nature of a traditional barber shop and proposed that the artistic feature wall could engage the art department with unique barber shop themed charcoal renderings. I softened the space with additional hospitality elements which, plant life, drapery, and included lounge furniture with a color palette to reflects Skyline’s branding.
